This alignment was going to shift the Earth's axis and cover the planet in ice, or other equally plausible nonsense. A quick check of Amazon shows that one of those books, "5/5/2000, Ice, The Ultimate Disaster", is ranked 5,164,905 on the site's bestseller list (and btw, that puts "5/5/2000" about 4.5 million places behind a book that translates Shakespeare's "Hamlet" into Klingon). So, I guess everyone has forgotten about that failed prophecy... Still, all I can ask is what happens if the events of 2012 cause time to reverse and then the planetary alignment of 5/5/2000 freezes us all when we least expect it? The skeptics will be looking pretty silly then, won't they? :) If only we still had helpful cartoon characters like He-Man to give people the facts. They just don't make shows like that anymore...
