Bowtie Deisgn Sleeveless Skinny Mini White Cotton Blend Dress
Sexy Strapless Solid Color Stereo Falbala Embellished Cotton Blend Party Dress
Fold Design Pearl Embellished Low-Cut Dress
Strapless dresses from SammyDress! This wholesale Hong Kong fashion site has incredibly cheap clothing prices, but my experience has been that what you save on items is made up for with very expensive shipping. Quality is typical of Chinese produced fashion—cute on the outside but low quality is seen on the inside of the dresses with imperfect stitching. Petite sizes. I haven’t yet bought a dress from them I didn’t like.
My Master Sagan tees have arrived! I’ll be wearing mine in Nashville at CSICon along with a matching black version for my boyfriend. (aaww!)
I also have a men’s large and women’s large available. I’d like to auction them off, signed, at some point. They’re custom screen printed versions I had produce by a Canadian company (as opposed to the tees available through Zazzle).
Let me know what you think!
YesStyle is my favourite online store. I really should remove the oh-so-easy to click bookmark button from my browser. I started visiting the site as a fashion resource for illustrating clothing for my manga characters. Now, I dispose my income there…
I’m not a very big girl, by any means, but the petite sizes of this Hong Kong based store—-with Japanese, Korean, and Chinese brands—-make me feel really huge sometimes! This pink leopard print top fits fine, but you can still notice how loose it hangs on the model, compared to me. I’m also weasing flower barrettes from YesStyle (now unlisted) and a moon crescent pendant (out of stock). The blouse also came with a white lace camisol.
Below, is a yellow empire blouse from a South Korean brand called dodostyle. This picture of me was taken at a bistro called Soleil on the west side of Los Angeles. It was a really nice place, but I think that it’s adorable that french bistros in LA will have poutine on the menu as if it is as ‘fancy pants’ as other french dishes. Where I’m from, in northern Ontario, poutine is something you find at a greasy burgers ‘n fries joint, in a school cafeteria, or at a chip-truck. You typically won’t find it on a ‘classy’ menu. I could be wrong. Heck, I didn’t know there was a Poutinebot on twitter.
I have a weakness for the fashion of the online store, YesStyle.com. My closet contains many of their items, which I wear whenever I decide I should get out of my pjs and put on something nice. And what better place to do that then at the TED 2009 conference!
This is my creme-coloured ballerina skirt from YesStyle, which I wore for the first time at the TED Prize Gala back in February. The conference was held in Long Beach. This layered skirt is from the South Korean brand, Ukki. You can still grab it for about $50 US.
I also have this lovely “Flower-and-Vine” zip wallet by Let’s Fly, a Chinese brand. This particular item is no longer available, but YesStyle carries many of the brand’s other cute women’s bags and wallets.
One feature that I like about YesStyle is their “set” section. You can find some pretty affordable outfits in this sections, where items are combined together. I first came across YesStyle while looking for clothing references for my artwork. Looking through the site’s fashion always makes me want to sketch cute manga girls dressed up in their adorable items. So I did!
This set is from the South Korean brand, Beccgirl. It includes a v-neck long sleeve shirt and the check pattern skirt. Several colours are available in both the skirt and shirt, with the option of mix-and-matching your choice. Not included are the boots and the adorable suspenders. I have a thing for suspenders!
There you have it–YesStyle+manga! …And evidence that this geeky mangaka can, occasionally, get all dolled up!
